As a licensed physical therapist who specialized in biomechanics, Sara brings a skillset you won't find at a standard shop fit.
Sara Bresnick, of Pedal Power Training Solutions, is thrilled to offer biomechanical bicycle fitting services in her new office in East Burke, Vermont. Come take advantage of Sara's deep knowledge of both the human body and bicycles - drawn from her experience as a licensed orthopedic physical therapist, retired professional cyclist, and 20 years (hundreds of fittings) of bicycle fitting. Her expertise enables her to provide a highly personalized fit, marrying both the science and art of fitting the body to the machine.
Each fitting entails an in-depth interview to understand riding history, goals, and concerns, followed by a biomechanical analysis of musculoskeletal alignment, strength, and range of motion. Sara then adjusts all aspects of the bicycle, shoes, and pedals to ensure proper fit for both comfort and performance - paying special attention to any concerns highlighted by the client.
Each fitting takes approximately 1.5 hours. All fittings are comprehensive, as it isn't possible to adjust one part of the bike without looking at the entire body and machine together. Sara is also able to offer semi-custom and custom orthotics as needed.
In addition to bicycle fitting, we also offer a "Fit and Ride" service - a full fitting followed by a ride with Sara to review the fit in real life and offer any appropriate riding techniques. This service takes about 3 hours.
Please feel free to contact us for an appointment in the heart of East Burke, Vermont.
In-depth interview and biomechanical analysis, followed by full adjustment of bike, shoes, and pedals for comfort and performance.
A standard fit plus semi-custom or custom orthotics, built to address alignment concerns identified during your assessment.
A full fitting followed by a ride with Sara to review the fit in real life and cover any riding techniques worth refining.
A standard fit takes about 1.5 hours. Every fit is comprehensive, because it isn't possible to adjust one part of the bike without looking at the whole body and machine together. The Fit and Ride option runs about 3 hours, since it adds a ride to review the fit in real conditions.
It starts with an in-depth interview about your riding history, goals, and any pain or concerns. Next is a biomechanical analysis of musculoskeletal alignment, strength, and range of motion. Sara then adjusts the bike, shoes, and pedals for comfort and performance, with extra attention to whatever you flagged at the start.
All of them - road, gravel, cyclocross, mountain, and triathlon. The assessment is the same regardless of the bike, and the adjustments follow whatever that bike and that discipline ask of your body.
It depends on the bike. Some setups are straightforward and some take considerably longer - triathlon bikes in particular, since integrated cockpits and proprietary parts make every adjustment slower. Get in touch with the bike you'd like fit and you'll get a straight answer before you book.
This is common with stock bikes, which are built to a size chart rather than to you. Sara keeps a range of stems, handlebars, and saddles in the studio, so when the fit calls for a different length, width, or shape you can ride the actual part during your appointment instead of guessing at a spec and coming back another day. Anything you decide to keep is priced separately, and nothing goes on your bike without your say.
Often, yes. Pain on the bike usually traces back to position, cleat alignment, or a limitation in how your body moves. Sara is a licensed orthopedic physical therapist, so the assessment looks at the body as closely as the bike, and orthotics are available when foot alignment is part of the problem.
Most people who get fit aren't racing. If you ride regularly and something hurts, goes numb, or just feels off, a fit is usually the fastest fix. Comfort and efficiency come from the same adjustments either way.
Yes, and ideally before you choose a frame size. A fit gives you the numbers that matter - saddle height and setback, reach, bar height - so you can buy against real measurements instead of guessing. That's especially useful for a custom build.
Come back when something changes: a new bike, new shoes or pedals, an injury, a long layoff, or a jump in training volume. Positions that felt right for years can stop working when your body or your riding does.
